         Android is a linux based operating system,Many of us think that android was designed by google but, not.This was primarily developed by Android, Inc. for touch screen hand held  devices such as Smartphones and tablets.Google was the one which has financially supported this company & later purchased it in 2005.Android was first unveiled in 2007.The first android phone was sold in October 2008.
       Today Android has became the worlds most widely used smartphone platform . Things that had made android such a big success are its nature & license.Android is open source & its code is realsed by google under the Apache license.the open source behavoiur & the license has given the manufactures the flexibility for modifying its software with respective to the goods. In addition to this the large no of Android Developers Community has developed many no of applications that are written in Java programming language, that shall increase the functionality of the smartphones & Tablets.
